Youth Director

Kehillat Beth Israel Congregation 1400 Coldrey Ave, Ottawa ON

Kehillat Beth Israel Congregation, the largest synagogue in Ottawa, is a welcoming Egalitarian shul that promotes Conservative Judaism and its values through religious, educational and social activities.
As Youth Director, Kehillat Beth Israel will require from you the highest level of trust, integrity, and confidence in your relationships with members of the congregation and within the larger community both Jewish and civic.
Your duties include but are not strictly limited to:
- Coordination and execution of weekly Shabbat morning youth services
- Creation and execution of monthly youth programs (Kadima/USY)
- Assistance in planning and execution of all activities for Jewish holidays for youth and families
- Coordination of all youth services for High Holidays, including hiring, tracking hours, staffing and discipline, as well as developing age appropriate services in consultation with the Ritual, Education & Outreach Director.
- Assist with creating marketing materials and promoting youth and family activities
- Plan and organize Kehillat Beth Israel teens' involvement with regional conventions, including travel, food, and accommodations.
-Coordinate the hosting of regional USY conventions at Kehillat Beth Israel Congregation.
The Youth Director will report to the Ritual, Education & Outreach Director, the Youth Committee Chair and the Executive Director. You will be expected to attend all Staff Meetings and be an active contributor in discussing all shul-wide programs and the impact or relevance to the youth of our shul. When requested you will prepare reports to be presented to the Board of Directors. You will be expected to attend Board and Executive meetings when requested. An annual performance review will be conducted with the Executive Director, in consultation with the Ritual, Outreach and Education Director and the Youth Committee Chair. You will meet with the Youth Committee on a quarterly basis both as a way to review the success of past events, and to develop programming for the future.
Requirements:
-High School Graduate
-average 10-12 hours per week (variable based on shul/Jewish calendar)
-salary: $10k-$12k (commensurate with experience)

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
