Emerging Generation Campaign Co-chairs

Samantha Sigler and Shlomi Barshan,
Co-chairs 2021-22 and 2022-23

After having grown up in the Ottawa Jewish community, Samantha moved to Israel where she met and fell in love with Shlomi 10 years ago. Shortly after the birth of their son Lev, they decided to move back to Ottawa to be close to family and community. In addition to busy lives as parents to 2 young children and demanding jobs, both Sam and Shlomi find many ways to give back to the community. Shlomi is actively engaged with the Israeli expat community and JNF Ottawa and Samantha is on the boards of both Machzikei Hadas and the Early Beginnings daycare. Sam and Shlomi are excited to be chairing the Emerging Generation campaign for a second year, and with a return to normalcy, they look forward to helping to foster connections between members of the emerging generation.

Jared Jenicek,
Chair 2022-23 and 2023-24

As a newcomer to Ottawa in 2016, Jared was instantly attracted to the vibrant Jewish community and the warmth of its members. When the opportunity arose to chair the Emerging Generation division of the Annual Campaign, he didn’t hesitate. Having now made Ottawa his permanent home, Jared works as a commercial real estate broker at a local boutique brokerage. While completing his studies in commerce at the University of Ottawa, Jared held executive positions at both Hillel and Chabad. Upon graduating in 2020, Jared was excited to continue serving the Jewish community in new and different capacities. He volunteered as a canvasser for both the 2021 and 2022 Annual Campaigns for the Jewish Federation of Ottawa. With the return of in-person events, Jared looks forward to meeting more members of the community and giving this campaign his all to build bridges for our next generation.
