The Knitting Pilgrim
Temple Israel and All Saints' Westboro are presenting The Knitting Pilgrim, featuring actor and knitter Kirk Dunn, a multidisciplinary one-man show that combines personal storytelling, image projection, and three huge hand-knitted panels that look like stained glass windows, to explore the connection amongst the Abrahamic faiths: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The panels, which look like tapestries, took Kirk 15 years to knit, and are part of his hope to create conversation around the rise of populism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and fear of the ‘other.’ The show speaks to our need to practice empathy (especially interfaith empathy) and to enter into complex conversations, that aren’t black and white, about why people struggle to get along in the world today.

TIRS and All Saints students and their school friends are invited to attend for free. Parents are welcome and tickets are $15. Kirk has created a wonderful short introductory video of what to expect which can be viewed at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkcVLT3pZRI
