Vice President of Impact, Partnerships and Allocations

The Jewish Federation of Ottawa is a vibrant and dynamic organization with a mission to advance and promote an exceptional quality of Jewish life. Our vision is a thriving Jewish community that is inclusive, accessible, educated, and engaged. Reporting to the CEO of Federation, this position is responsible for building capacity in the Jewish community through strategic planning, programming, agency/community organization relations, leadership development, and outreach and engagement. This position currently has 3 direct reports, a team of 6, and is a valued member of the executive management team.

Specific responsibilities include:

Strategic Planning
• Oversee the periodic study of community demographics, needs, and trends;
• Lead special projects of high importance around engagement and education;
• Work with the CEO on crafting annual work plans to achieve the organization's Strategic Plan and report back to the community in a timely manner.

Agency and Community Organizations Relations
• Supervise a senior team member in overseeing grants, allocations, and evaluations;
• Develop and manage ways to add value to agencies and community organizations (e.g. leadership development);
• Enhance Federation’s important role of convener, by devising comprehensive methods to share information, solicit
feedback, and create opportunities for partnerships;
• Work with the fundraising team and agencies to craft a case for giving and identify supplementary giving
opportunities.

Outreach and Engagement
• Supervise Federation engagement opportunities including Hillel, young adult engagement, Holocaust education, PJ
Library, and more;
• Evaluate, conceptualize, and oversee the implementation of special initiatives focused on increasing engagement
(e.g. growth of PJ Library program).

Leadership Development
• Develop and implement strategies to identify, train, and motivate volunteer leadership;
• As part of the management team, make succession planning a priority.

Additional Responsibilities
• Contribute to fundraising efforts by taking responsibility for relationship building and the solicitation of a core
group of donors;
• Special projects, initiatives, and opportunities that occur to respond to emerging needs.

Getting Work Done Through Others: Manages people well; sets and communicates guiding goals; measures accomplishments, holds people accountable, gives credit for achievement and gives useful feedback; delegates and develops; keeps people informed; provides coaching for today and for the future. Should be the consummate team player focused on building a strong Jewish community.

Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen ability to build consensus.

Passion: Must have a passion for the Jewish community and Israel and be able to share and communicate this passion.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required (advanced degree preferred).
• Minimum of seven years of progressive responsibility, with increasing management experience in complex
organizations.
• Extensive experience working with and managing volunteers.
• Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and see multiple and simultaneous projects to
fruition.
• Knowledge of Ottawa’s Jewish community is a strong asset.

Compensation: Salary range: $88,000 - $98,000, based on experience. Medical and drug benefits package, free JCC membership, and pension plan available after a year’s service. Free parking on site.
